Bagh-E-Ishq; Zainab Chottani’s Solo Show Was A Success!
January 27, 2021

All hail, Ms. Chottani.

The serene garden space, lit up with lights, the tempo of the music as it filled the space all the way from Hunza, this event was a COVID-19 SOP complaint event by all measures. Sadaf Kanwal opened the show, sashayed in, amid applause and cheers. Taking place at the iconic Jehangir Kothari Parade Karachi, Zainab Chottani’s summer bridal collection 2021 was her first ever solo show. Showcasing latest trends for bridal fashion it is said to be inspired by patterns and motifs taken right out of the Ottoman Empire. A simple ode to Pakistan’s old age hereditary crafts such as bandhani, chapa, crushed fabric and vibrant screen prints. All of this speak volumes on the contemporary spirit. Designed to resonate with the modern consumer in the new normal we are all trying hard to adopt.

With a copious amount of paisley motifs and metallic tints that resonate with the Turkish tradition. Indigo blue, pretty pinks, teals, golden mustards, all in floral patterns. Zainab, a curator of fashion, took inspiration from the rich art and architecture from the Ottoman Empire combining eastern and contemporary silhouettes. Harmonious embroideries, intricate detailing is the definition of a ZC woman or man. The designer was quoted saying, “Since the pandemic last year, we have all reworked how we function and considering how bridal events have adjusted to the new normal, we customized our collection based on those needs and preferences. Similarly, we also chose to show our clothes outdoors so prospective brides and grooms could imagine themselves in a similar setting. Our designs have been rationalized so there is no lack of fantasy and clothes that are pretty yet practical without compromising on the glamour and beauty of details.”

Hasnain Lehri and Fahmeen Ansari along with the others set the ramp ablaze, stole the show representing what the bridal wear for 2021 would look like for both men and women. Jewelry by MHT and makeup by none other than Nabila and N.Gents, the show was a surefire hit. The signature use of color and classic silhouettes clearly reflected on Chottani’s competence as always. We think this collection is no only limited for the bride and groom. It is indeed a full package and anyone can steal the show by wearing the couture pieces from Bagh-e-Ishq.
