This outfit has a story to tell…

Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari’s wedding with Mehmood Chaudhry has been making rounds on all the media platforms. With whatever glimpse of her functions from mehendi, nikkah to valima we could get, we’re loving how her festivities went down and were celebrated. Since yesterday, Bakhtawar’s mehendi image is going viral on Instagram. The couple has been seen posing with all smiles and we have to say they indeed look adorable together. How Bakhtawar decided to do everything different we see her adorning a gorgeous Red Zara Shahjahan ensemble. The entire inspiration for Bakhtawar’s outfit came from the designer’s recent collection ‘Ghazal’. The attire ‘Zubaida’, which model Eman Suleman adorned in the shoot. The dress has been made on similar lines with a few alterations, which Bakhtawar wanted. Zara Shahjahan, in an exclusive interview online, said that Bakhtawar was one of the most easygoing brides that she has ever worked with.

Similar to her nikkah chaddar by Nida Azwer, the shawl depicting a memoir of her childhood life, Bakhtawar wanted her mother to be a part of her big day like any other girl. She specifically asked Zara to incorporate the Urdu poem, ‘who larki laal qalandar’ embroidered on the dupatta. The poem was dedicated to her late mother Benazir Bhutto. The Urdu columnist, Zahida Hina, had written this poem about Benazir Bhutto, narrating what impact Bibi had on the rest. Well, this wasn’t enough. Zara added a little detail by herself which was a pouch. On the pouch was an embroidered portrait of Benazir Bhutto. How truly precious of Zara to add such a beautiful memoir to Bakhtawar’s new journey. Hidden in the personalized details, Bakhtawar managed to carry her mother’s presence around her on her big day.
وہ دریا دیس سمندر تھی
جو تیرے میرے اندر تھی
وہ سوندھی مٹی سندھڑی کی
وہ لڑکی لال قلندر تھی

The lehenga Zara designed had chata-patti on it with patches of Sindhi embroidery and mirrorwork. The heavily dupatta and lehenga were paired with a lightly embellished shirt with a flowery motif spread. All the flowers were embroidered in Bakhtawar and Mehmood’s name. These details are so minute that they are not visible in the pictures, even Zara said the same. Not a believer in over-the-top statements, Zara Shahjahan knew how to twerk all the details, which made it even more special. The zoom meetings were heavily relied on. Zara created the toiles and sent them to Dubai, where the bride-to-be was residing at that point in time. We have to admit Zara Shahjahan nailed Bakhtawar’s mehendi ensemble and she looks picture perfect in it. Also, we wish the couple a very happy married life ahead!
